A report credited to The Nation has it that Grace Aghomi Onome, a 37-year-old commercial sex worker in Badagry area of Lagos state has sold her only daughter to a man for N60,000.
The woman who made the transaction for the sole purpose of having the girl, identified as Feranmi Ahmed work as a slave for the buyer, was arrested and arraigned before an Ebute Metta magistrate’s court.
Ighodalu Daniel, the prosecutor in charge of the case, revealed to the court that Mrs Onome committed the said offence (which contravened section 274 and 142 of the Criminal Law of Lagos state) on September 30 at about 11pm in Badagry.
“That you Grace Aghomi Onome ‘f’ on September 30, 2016 at about 11.30 pm at Badagry area in the Badagry magisterial district did sell your daughter Feranmi Ahmed ‘f’ to one Endurance ‘f’ surname unknown for a consideration of N60,000 in order that the said Feranmi Ahmed ‘f’ should be held or treated as a slave or servitude and thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under Section 274 of the Criminal Law of Lagos state, 2011,” the charge sheet read.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge read against her and Magistrate Abimbola Awogboro admitted her to bail in the sum of N50, 000 and a surety in like sum but case was adjourned the case to November 21 for mention.
Recently, there was drama recently along Central Avenue in the Harare area of Zimbabwe when some prostitutes took advantage of a 15-year-old schoolboy sexually.
Eyewitnesses told Nehanda Radio that the sex workers attracted the attention of onlookers when they took the boy who wore an Ellis Robbins school uniform to the food stall to buy sadza around 10:00am.
The food vendors were said to have asked casually the skimpily dressed sex workers who the boy was, and they said he was a friend.
