On Christmas Day in Osun State, a terrible accident happened on the Ikirun-Offa highway near Inisa town.
A trailer carrying bags of beans and passengers heading from Niger State to Edo State crashed, causing the deaths of nine people. Many others got badly hurt.
Emergency services rushed the injured passengers to Orotunde Hospital in Ikirun, while the deceased were taken to the hospital’s morgue.
Adeleke Kehinde from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps confirmed the accident. He said it happened early in the day at Yidi Junction in Inisa town.
The accident involved a Mitsubishi Canter carrying bags of beans from Niger State to Benin, Edo State. Sadly, out of 12 passengers, nine lost their lives.
The injured were taken to Orotunde Hospital, and the authorities moved the vehicle and beans to the Inisa Police Divisional Headquarters.
