A police inspector named Jonathan Okouromi is currently missing after fatally shooting his colleague, Sergeant Abosele Akhere, in Edo state.
The incident happened during a police operation against suspected cultists in Ikponwosa/Egban community, Egor Local Government Area.
During the operation, Sergeant Akhere arrested a notorious cultist called ‘Raggae.’ Suddenly, Inspector Okouromi unexpectedly shot Sergeant Akhere from behind, causing him to fall and bleed severely. He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
After the shooting, Inspector Okouromi fled the scene, and the suspected cultist ‘Raggae’ also escaped. However, another cult member, Mr. Agbontaen Monday, was arrested.
The police are currently searching for Inspector Okouromi, while Sergeant Akhere’s body has been taken to the mortuary. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
